Arthur welcomes Lucy Leonard – a storyteller from the Spanish hills

Arthur is delighted to welcome a new Senior Copywriter to the cause-led team. Lucy Leonard comes with 12 years’ experience of writing fundraising and marketing copy for the third sector and for some of the biggest charity names.

Lucy cut her teeth in Copywriting in the Direct Marketing team at CAFOD and went on to write award-winning copy for the likes of Mencap, Shelter, Centrepoint, WWF and Save the Children. She’s a trained journalist but a self-proclaimed ‘empath with too much creativity for the newsroom.’ So it’s storytelling where Lucy really shines – compelling, emotive and captivating storytelling where you can’t help but feel moved to get up and drive some change.

Lucy has written copy for Hear my Voice campaign and Little Noise Sessions for Mencap, World Gifts and DEC Emergency appeals at CAFOD and most recently at We Mean Business Coalition writing for #Allinfor2030, telling corporate stories of climate action in the race to Net Zero. Her work has been projected on the big screen at Trocadero London, on DRTV ads, Facebook ads and no doubt through your letterbox too.

“Lucy’s ability to turn even the most mundane text into emotionally resonant copy is nothing short of magic. Her writing is intuitive, powerful and evocative, in short everything one could wish for from a copywriter.” Lucy’s former Creative Director. And in our experience, she’s full of fantastic conceptual ideas too.

In her personal life, Lucy is an experienced Doula who has assisted more than 20 mothers to give birth at home and hospital and a pro-bono Lactation Consultant. She is a multi-tasking mother of three very young humans and when not at her desk ‘saving the planet’ as her eldest son says, you’ll find her hiking the Spanish hills of Murcia where she lives with her family, clutching flowers they probably shouldn’t have picked…

Even though Lucy works remotely mostly, she will be escaping to Arthur HQ as often as she can for that London fix and creative time with the team and clients. So catch her when you can, if you’re lucky.
